We Survived -- What Now? ;)

Hello, everyone.  Just popping in for now to update quickly once again.  I don't want you thinking we're STILL fighting whooping cough!  It lasted a long time, but we are very thankful that it's over.

Do you see the rainbow peeking through the clouds in this photo, taken early this month in southern Missouri? It was beautiful.  Rainbows make me think of God, and His promises and faithfulness.

We've been very busy so far this summer.  My husband often has his busiest schedule in the summer, and July is especially busy this year.

I hope I can eventually get back to posting more regularly.  My blog is a low priority in my life, but it is something I enjoy doing.

I have so many things I want to post about.  I'm going to list some of them here.  Theoretically, I would keep track of them elsewhere also, and I do try, but not always successfully.  If you want, you can tell me what you're most interested in.  That might help me decide what to prioritize in the limited time I have.

  • Books -- Book reviews, or at least something about books.   I have read several books I'd love to review.  I need to do Raising Real Men, and I also want to talk about the 4 Moms ebook.  I have all sorts of other books I'd like to discuss more:  Atlas Shrugged, Jane Eyre, some counseling books, The Book Thief, Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, 1000 Gifts... and that's just off the top of my head.  Trouble is, it's tough enough lately to get all the reading in that I want to, and at times when I'm writing about books I think of how I could be reading instead -- ha!   I also make notes on some books for teaching purposes when I can, as well as writing down quotes I like, and I've thought of sharing some of them.  Maybe that would bore most people to tears.
  • Some from my journal and/or more thoughts about my brother's death and things related.  We're approaching the second anniversary of his death and I'd like to write some more, but aside from the time factor, it's often hard to know what to write.  There's just so much.   And some of it is so hard to express, and some of I don't want to share... but some I do.
  • Photos of the children from this year.
  • Photos of the children from past years.
  • Homeschool-related posts.
  • Pinterest-related posts.
  • Stay-at-home mom posts that I never finished putting up.  I haven't forgotten.  I'm just the worst procrastinator ever.
  • Cultural exchange posts.
  • Selected questions I've been asked, and my answers to them.
  • Our experience with whooping cough -- journal and thoughts that might be helpful to others dealing with it.
  • Posts about trying to find ways to make things work better organizationally, etc. for our large family in a pretty small house.  Just b/c this has been consuming some of my time lately.  This would inevitably make you feel much better about yourself, since I'm a confirmed Messy -- ha.  I'm pretty sure some other people who live here are too (though they shall remain unnamed, at least in this post).  If I ever move, I hope it will be to a bigger house, where instead I can write about how I suddenly become super organized there.  Well, I'm dreaming already.  May as well dream big, right? :)
I know there are other things I've thought of before....  If you think of something else you'd like me to write about, feel free to let me know, and maybe I will actually get to it some year. :-P  For now, I'm just happy to have made any post at all. :)

  2. It all sounds great to me--I miss your blogging! :) I vote you start posting, oh, say three times a week so you can get it all done, giggle and wink.

Seriously, though, you know I'm always up for hearing about books and I would love to hear your thoughts on The Book Thief, 1000 Gifts, and esp Atlas Shrugged as I'm on page 129 right now and will need your insight to fully grasp all the thoughts swirling in the recesses of my brain! And homeschooling and teaching notes and quotes and your children and Clint and your grieving process and whooping cough and cultural exchange and organization. . .ummm, yep, you'd better work "blog time" into your daily schedule! :)

Great to hear from you and I'm glad you are done with whooping cough!!

    1. I don't think you're helping me with my priorities here... ;) Love the idea of 3 times a week! Help me figure out how to do that! :)
Thanks, we're extremely glad to be done w/the cough, too.

  3. By the way, I completely understand your dilemma with time vs. desire to blog. I have 29 (TWENTY NINE!!!) drafts started. I'm good at starting, not so great at finishing. ;)
