Nature

We do nature study as part of our homeschool experience. We love learning about God's amazing creation! I thought it would be nice to put links to our posts about nature in one place where they could be somewhat neatly organized as there become more of them.
This is largely for my own somewhat obsessive (silly?) interest at the moment, and also in the hope that it could be of some future use.

I am including a letter code after each link to help inform about what can be found at each site:
  • I = information about this is included in the post.
  • P = photo(s)
  • L = links to external sites where we found useful information. Please note that I can't guarantee the content of an external site, and don't necessarily endorse everything on every site I link to. Caution and common sense should be used in browsing the Internet.
A (?) means I'm not entirely certain of its identity, but certain enough to label it as that until I become more certain or am corrected. If you can help with that, I'd appreciate it. Scientific names or other clarifying info such as alternative common names are included in italics following each, when I have them.

Plants:
Insects:

Other Small Critters (How's that for scientific? Will do better when/if there's enough to merit separate categories):

Birds:

Amphibians:

Reptiles:

Mammals:

  1. Thank you so much for sharing all this information! My 5 year old is obsessed with learning about animals and plants and exploring nature and I will be reading a lot of these posts in more detail to find ways to teach him more. I look forward to sharing this new knowledge with him.
